The Maria L. Varisco-Rogers Charter School is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered School Social Worker / Case Manager to join our Student Support Services team for the 2026–2027 school year.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive social work services and case management that support students' academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health needs. We are looking for a dedicated professional who values collaboration with families, educators, and community agencies while ensuring compliance with special education regulations and promoting student success.

Essential Responsibilities

• Serve as the case manager for assigned students receiving special education services, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

• Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and maintain accurate case management documentation.

• Conduct social histories, assessments, and other evaluations as required.

• Provide individual and group counseling services to students, as appropriate.

• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, child study team members, related service providers, and families to support student success.

• Connect students and families with appropriate school and community-based resources and services.

• Assist in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and the development of positive behavioral and social-emotional supports.

• Monitor student progress and collaborate in developing appropriate interventions and support plans.

• Maintain confidential student records and complete all required documentation in accordance with New Jersey Department of Education regulations.

• Participate in Child Study Team meetings, IEP meetings, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, and professional development activities.

• Support school-sponsored activities, family engagement initiatives, and community outreach events.

• Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.

Qualifications

Required

• Valid New Jersey School Social Worker Certification.

• Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.

• Knowledge of New Jersey special education regulations and case management responsibilities.

• Successful completion of the New Jersey Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred

• Experience working in a school setting as a School Social Worker or Case Manager.

• Knowledge of IEP development, special education compliance, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

• Strong counseling, crisis intervention, communication, and organizational skills.

• Experience collaborating with community agencies and family support services.

• Commitment to fostering equitable, inclusive, and student-centered educational practices.

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Salary

Starting at $60,170 annually
Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials.
